Robert was born on August 26th, 1917 in NY.  Robert's father is Alexander Carswell and his mother was Sara McCaughan.  His maternal grandfather was Samuel McCaughan and his maternal grandmother is Matilda Kirkpatrick. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Alexander, William, Fredrick, Margaret, Florence and Muriel.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 57 on July 11th, 1975 in Los Angeles CA.
