Darby was born in 1804 in Leitrim, Ireland.  Darby's father was Michael Fox and his mother was Mary McGloin.  His paternal grandfather was John Fox and his paternal grandmother is Wife Unknown (Fox). He had three brothers and four sisters, named Michael, John, Patrick, Nellie, Margaret, Bridget and Polly.  He was the oldest of the eight children. He had a half-brother named Francis.  He died at the age of 50 on April 18th, 1854 in TX.
